Congress Slams Government, Demands Responsibility for Gonda Train Accident
New Delhi: The Congress party has launched a scathing attack on the government, holding Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw accountable for the tragic Gonda train accident.
On Saturday, a passenger train collided with a stationary goods train near Gonda in Uttar Pradesh, resulting in multiple casualties and injuries. The Congress has expressed deep condolences to the victims and their families.
“This accident is a shameful reflection of the gross negligence and apathy of the government towards the safety of rail passengers,” said Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala.
The party demanded that Prime Minister Modi and Railway Minister Vaishnaw “take full responsibility” for the incident, which it described as a “monumental failure” of the government’s railway management system.
Surjewala alleged that the government had repeatedly ignored warnings and concerns about the poor condition of railway tracks and rolling stock. He said that the accident was a “direct result” of these lapses.
Congress leaders have also visited the accident site and met with affected families. They have pledged to provide all possible support to the victims and their loved ones.
The party has demanded a thorough investigation into the incident and severe punishment for those responsible for the negligence. It has also called for urgent measures to improve railway safety and prevent such tragedies in the future.
The Gonda train accident has sparked widespread outrage and demands for accountability. The government’s response and the outcome of the investigation will be closely watched by the public and the opposition.
