Kerala CM Expresses Relief Package Expectation from Centre, Announces Township Plans for Landslide Victims

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has expressed his expectations for a relief package from the Central government to aid the state’s recovery from the recent devastating landslides.

During a press conference, CM Vijayan stated that he had requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to consider providing financial assistance to the state. He emphasized the urgent need for support to rebuild infrastructure and rehabilitate affected families.

“We have submitted a detailed memorandum to the Prime Minister, highlighting the extent of damage and the immediate requirements. We are hopeful that the Centre will extend its support in this difficult time,” said CM Vijayan.

Additionally, the Chief Minister announced that the state government will construct townships for the people displaced by landslides. He said that these townships will provide safe and modern housing, along with essential amenities and facilities.

“We are committed to ensuring that those who have lost their homes will have a safe and secure place to live. These townships will be built to the highest standards and will incorporate environmentally sustainable features,” CM Vijayan added.

The Kerala government has already begun the process of identifying suitable land for the construction of the townships. Officials are working closely with local communities to ensure that the projects are implemented in a timely and effective manner.

The recent landslides in Kerala have resulted in significant loss of life and property. The state government has been providing immediate relief to affected families, including food, shelter, and medical assistance. However, the reconstruction and rehabilitation process is expected to be a long-term endeavor, requiring substantial financial support.
