Union Budget 2024: Focus on Digital Infrastructure, Education

New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today presented the Union Budget 2024 in Parliament, outlining the government’s plans for strengthening India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and education sector.

Agriculture

* Government to develop DPI for agriculture, covering farmers and their lands.
* Digital Crop Survey to be conducted for 600 crore crops.
* Farming lands to be included in the National Land Registry.
* Kisan Credit Card to be enabled in five states.

Education

* Education loans up to Rs. 10 lakhs to be provided in domestic institutions.
* E-vouchers to be issued to one lakh students annually for education loans.
* These e-vouchers will enable loans with an annual interest subvention of 3%.

The Finance Minister emphasized the importance of technology in improving efficiency and productivity in various sectors, including agriculture and education. The government’s initiatives aim to provide farmers with access to real-time data and enable financial inclusion, while also making higher education more accessible to students.
