Samsung Unveils Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 with Enhanced AI Capabilities
Paris, March 8, 2023 – Samsung Electronics introduced its newest foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, at the second Galaxy Unpacked event held in the French capital.
Galaxy Z Fold 6
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 boasts incremental upgrades over its predecessor. While the design remains largely unchanged, Samsung has made improvements to durability and weight. The new device features an IP48 rating, offering protection against dust particles and water.
The main display has been expanded to 7.6 inches, offering a QXGA+ resolution and an adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz. The secondary display now measures 6.3 inches and also supports a 120Hz refresh rate.
Samsung’s proprietary Galaxy AI enhances the Fold 6’s functionality with tools such as FlexCam for automatic framing, Note Assist, and Live Translate. It is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and comes with support for seven years of OS and security upgrades.
Camera-wise, the Fold 6 features a triple-camera system comprising a 50MP main sensor, 10MP telephoto lens, and 12MP ultrawide lens. The ultrawide camera has been improved for better low-light performance.
Galaxy Z Flip 6
The Galaxy Z Flip 6 remains largely similar to its predecessor in terms of design. However, it introduces a larger 3.4-inch cover display that now supports smart reply suggestions.
The main display measures 6.7 inches and offers a Full-HD+ resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate. The Flip 6 is also powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.
On the rear, the Flip 6 features a dual-camera setup with a 50MP main sensor and a 12MP ultrawide lens. The selfie camera has been upgraded to 10MP and supports 4K video recording.
Availability
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 will be available in stores later this month. Pricing and specific release dates vary by market.
