Union Budget 2024 Prioritizes Digital Infrastructure and Labor Market

New Delhi, March 1, 2024: In the Parliament today, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget for the financial year 2024-24.

Digital Public Infrastructure

The budget allocation significantly focuses on enhancing the digital infrastructure across various sectors. Key announcements include:

* Inclusion of six crore farmers and their land records in the National Land Registry.
* Extension of Kisan Credit Card facilities to an additional six crore farmers across five states.

Labor Market Integration

To streamline job search and hiring, the government plans to:

* Integrate the E-Shram portal with other employment platforms to create a comprehensive job marketplace.
* Develop open architecture databases for labor market analysis and matching job seekers with potential employers and skill providers.

E-Shram Portal

Launched in 2021, the E-Shram portal is a national database of unorganized workers, including migrants and domestic workers. It facilitates worker registration, training, and access to social security and welfare schemes.

Registering on E-Shram

Interested job seekers can register on E-Shram through the following steps:

* Visit the E-Shram portal or access it via Umang app or National Government Services Portal.
* Enter Aadhaar details, generate OTP, and validate.
* Provide personal, educational, skill, and employment information.
* Enter bank details and submit self-declaration.
* Verify details and submit.
* Generate E-Shram card.

The budget’s focus on digital infrastructure and labor market integration aims to enhance the availability of skilled workforce, ease job searches, and provide access to government services.
