Jyotiraditya Scindia’s Witty Retorts Counter Opposition’s Budget Queries

Union Budget 2024: Scindia Responds to Opposition’s Queries with Wit and Poise

New Delhi, January 20, 2024: In the ongoing Parliament session, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia addressed concerns raised by the opposition over the Union Budget 2024.

Amidst a flurry of questions, Scindia displayed remarkable poise and wit in his responses. When asked about the lack of direct tax cuts in the budget, he remarked, “The budget is like a symphony, where every note contributes to the overall harmony. Direct tax cuts may seem appealing, but they would have disrupted the fiscal balance and jeopardized long-term economic stability.”

Regarding the absence of specific measures for the aviation sector, Scindia countered, “We are not magicians who can conjure solutions out of thin air. The aviation industry has faced unprecedented challenges during the pandemic, and the government is committed to providing support in a phased manner.”

He further emphasized the government’s focus on infrastructure development, stating, “India is on the cusp of a growth trajectory, and infrastructure is the bedrock of that journey. The budget allocates significant resources to road, rail, and airport expansion, which will create employment opportunities and enhance connectivity.”

Scindia’s responses were met with mixed reactions. While some praised his eloquence, others criticized his lack of concrete commitments. However, his ability to deflect questions with a blend of humor and substance left a lasting impression on the House.
